Introduces students to the challenges, opportunities, and risk associated with the global supply chain. It provides an overview of global supply chain operations management as a field and describes the strategic role it has in today’s competitive business environment.
Course Content Goals and Objectives:
• Increase global awareness through critical analysis of international trade, Emphasis on East Asian Countries.
• Increase global awareness through analysis of various management techniques utilized across the globe.
Emphasis given to East Asian Countries and Top-down leadership style.
• Understand what global supply chain management is and how important it is to compete globally and achieving
global competitive advantage.
• Learn the distinctions between and relationships among SCM and internal primary support value chain activities.
• Learn the importance of inventory management, the specific information systems that are used to manage and
make decisions regarding inventory through the supply chain.
• Learn and apply calculations associated with inventory management, including economic order quantity, total
acquisition costs, re-order points and implications to operations management.
• Learn and apply the concepts of systems thinking and the bullwhip effect as they relate to inventory decision
making throughout the supply chain and how to successfully manage complex global supply chains.
