COMT 592: IND – Communication and Socialization 3 cr. Prerequisite: COMX 300 (formally 200) or consent of department chair. Introduces concepts and theories related to the role of communication in the socialization of multiple dimensions of identity development.
Melinda Aley (Ph.D., Michigan State University) is an assistant professor in the Department of Communication at Montana State University Billings. Her research examines how socializing messages received in childhood influence identity development in adulthood, with a focus on morality, career development, and gender identity
