The NREMT International Assessment Track at City College MSU Billings provides a CAAHEP-accredited pathway for foreign-trained paramedics, including Canadian paramedics preparing to work in the United States, to complete the transcript evaluation and competency assessment required for NREMT exam eligibility. This two-stage hybrid process verifies cognitive, psychomotor, and affective paramedic skills through remote and inperson evaluation, and successful candidates are verified by MSUB faculty to apply for the NREMT paramedic examination.

Who should apply?

Paramedics educated or licensed outside the United States
Canadian paramedics preparing to work in the United States
International applicants who can travel to Billings, Montana, for an in-person assessment

How the track works Stage 1: - Transcript and curriculum evaluation ($250 USD)

Submit your academic transcripts, course outlines, and current paramedic license or credential. MSUB faculty review your training to determine whether it aligns with entry-level United States paramedic competencies. Screening may result in a determination of ineligibility.

Stage 2: Competency assessment and faculty verification ($1,250 USD)

Available only to applicants approved in Stage 1. Candidates complete a hybrid assessment that includes remote knowledge evaluations and in-person lab and scenario testing at MSU Billings. When competency is verified, the Education Program Director submits the official eligibility verification to the NREMT so the candidate may apply for testing.
Fee: $250.00
