An overview of the core concepts related to the emerging interconnections between technology, the organization, and information management. This course enables students to grasp foundational information technology concepts as well as leading-edge topics including intelligent decision support systems, enterprise network environment, E-business, intranets, extranets, group collaboration, and other emerging technologies and organizational trends in MIS.

Course Content Goals and Objectives:

• Recognize the importance of MIS in an organizational setting.
• Develop an appreciation of the strategic contributions of information systems.
• Define and leverage business intelligence.
• Evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of cloud-based computing.
• Utilize information systems as a collaboration tool.
• Navigate the information system/business process interface.
• Assess and develop the goals and means of information security.
• Skill set development to effectively manage the MIS environment.
